drum services is a Cleaning and Maintenance Company with its head office in Liverpool but working throughout the country.

We offer a first class service… blah blah blah…

We offer free quotations, full insurance, 24/7 response, regular audits, smart uniforms, the same dedicated cleaner for your premises, a full Health and Safety/ Environmental and Equal Opportunities Policy, Method statements and Risk Assessments …so what, most companies do.

We offer first class training and career progression for our staff (but then, we would say that, wouldn’t we?).

Chances are that you are reading this website because you are not satisfied with your current cleaning services provider. Chances are that this is one of many Contract Cleaning websites you are looking at and that we are all claiming much the same thing. So rather than waste any more of your time, let us briefly present some facts about our Cleaning and Maintenance Company.

PRICE
  • We are one of the lowest priced contract cleaning companies in the country. We are also offer one of the highest hourly rates of pay to our cleaners. Naturally, our profit margins are that much lower.
  • Clients are constantly trying to reduce costs, consequently contract cleaning companies are keeping wages down, and as a result, the best cleaners are going to jobs where they will receive better rates of pay. This is the problem in a nutshell. And this is probably the real reason why you have experienced problems with cleaning companies in the past.
  • 95% of cleaning companies cite retaining staff as the biggest problem they face. The only way to retain good, reliable staff is to offer good rates of pay and better working conditions. We are willing to take a smaller profit in exchange for hiring and keeping the best cleaners.
  • We do not spend thousands thousands of pounds on advertising. Instead we have been quietly concentrating on gaining a reputation as a company which is constantly raising cleaning standards while improving the working conditions of our staff. If you can find a cheaper service offering the same quality we recommend you take it.
  • We also offer a janitorial service selling consumables. We would be very surprised if we could not offer you savings compared to your current supplier.
  • The more services we provide for you the more we discount.

PROFESSIONALISM
  • The company is owned and managed by cleaning industry professionals. We are not a franchise operation, we are one organization with one point of contact and we do not use sub contracted labour.
  • We are a corporate member of BICS (British Institute of Cleaning Sciences) the largest independent professional and educational body within the cleaning industry. Only Contract Cleaning companies which have been trading for at least two years and can provide industry references can apply for corporate membership.
  • BICS also provides the industry standard qualification for cleaning operatives. The COPC (Cleaning Operatives Proficiency Certificate) ensures that an operative has been trained and independently assessed to work safely and efficiently. It is not mandatory for Contract Cleaning companies to train their staff to COPC level and most don’t. At drum services, all of our cleaners are trained to COPC standard.
  • All of our Area Managers are trained from COPC level to BICS Assessor level. They are working cleaners who know the industry.
  • By August 09 we hope to be recognized as a BICS Assessment Centre. This means that not only will we be able to train and assess our own cleaning staff, but we also be able to train and assess cleaning staff in other organizations e.g. schools, hospitals, even other contract cleaning companies. This is the level of expertise we promise to bring to your contract, whether you want national coverage or whether you require one cleaner for a couple of hours a week.
  • We are able to take you through the TUPE process

RESPONSIVE
  • We offer a 24/7 response service.
If you call the 0800 number above, right now, you will be put straight through to the Area Manager closest to you. We appreciate that you may want to contact us outside office hours. We can’t really see the point in offering a 24/7 response service if you are passed on to an operator who will take your number and get somebody to call you back the next day. Instead, if you ring this number day or night you will speak to a knowledgeable and informed person who will be able to discuss quotes, prices, requirements, and even arrange a visit, there and then, quite possibly on the same day.
  • If you do decide to use our services, the first thing we will do is give you the number of your own Area Manager who you can contact to discuss any issues, again, day or night, 24/7.
  • Monthly audits don’t work. Weekly audits are better. At drum services we offer daily audits on our contracts.

STAFF

The Cleaning operatives themselves are the most important element of any Contract Cleaning company.

Cleaning is a vital, demanding and, lets be honest, unglamorous job. It has also become associated with minimum wage, unsociable hours, and poor conditions. Scarcely surprising then that the industry as a whole has, on average a 70% turnover of staff.

Most companies do not offer inductions, training or opportunities for promotion. As a result, the individual cleaner feels no obligation to perform for the company which they work for, let alone for that company’s client. Often, this results in poor timekeeping, poor performance, poor attendance and poor cleaning standards.

  • drum services pay at least 20% above minimum wage.
  • We offer a full induction process.
  • In addition, all of our cleaners will be trained to NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning and Support Services. The NVQ is a nationally recognized ‘on the job’ vocational qualification which includes a customer service element to the training (important if your cleaning operatives interface with your customers or clients).

It is not mandatory for Contract Cleaning companies to train their staff to NVQ level. Some companies offer NVQ training to staff, some offer COPC, and most offer neither. We offer both.

  • We encourage continuous training. In addition to our cleaning training, if our operatives have literacy or numeracy difficulties we will address them. Simply put, when our cleaners leave us they will usually be better qualified than when they came in. A worker who is properly remunerated, respected and has prospects for promotion is less likely to underperform. When you engage us you are investing in a company which is investing in its employees.
  • We have recently been awarded Investors in People status. This means that we have been independently audited and assessed to a national standard which sets out a level of good practice for the training and development of people in an organisation.
  • We have also signed the Skills Pledge, a voluntary commitment by an organization to support the skills development of all its employees and work towards relevant, valuable qualifications to at least Level 2 (equivalent to five good GCSEs).

ENVIRONMENT
  • We are not committed to meeting minimum requirements concerning environmental legislation. We are committed to exceeding them.
  • We use eco friendly, non toxic, phosphate free and biodegradable cleaning products instead of conventional chemical products. These cleaning solutions are considered by many in the industry to be more effective than conventional chemical cleaning products. Some cleaning companies use the tern ‘eco-friendly’ and apply it very loosely. The manufacturers of our cleaning solutions have provided full environmental policy information on their products, so for instance, we know that they will contain extremely low amounts of sulphur dioxide derivatives, or that they do not contain harmful solvents, or are non phenol. We also know they are ethically scoured.
  • Because our cleaning solutions are non-toxic they are safer for our staff and for yours.
  • Our operatives receive full training in the use of environmentally friendly techniques including Microfibre technology
  • Our janitorial service includes biodegradable refuse sacks, products made from recyclable materials and other environmentally friendly cleaning solutions.
  • Our own letterheads and business cards are made from recycled paper and our uniforms are made from organic materials.
  • We can even offer you a green audit showing you how you can help to green your business, free of charge.

That’s it, finished.

We hope that we have persuaded you that we have offer real commitments to training, working conditions, the environment and improved cleaning standards. And that we have been independently audited and assessed to prove it.

We believe that by choosing us, our clients have proven that they are interested in the same commitments too
