WE CAN SELF CERTIFY OUR WORK
Recent changes in government regulations mean that when a property is sold,
the seller must provide a certificate for all the building work completed
at that property. This has become even more important now as the
regulations will make it a requirement for the homeowner to provide these
certificates in the Home Information Pack due to be introduced next year.
Professional bodies of different trade organisations can permit their
members to 'self certify' their own work. This means, that after passing a
rigorous test by a relevant body, the operative is deemed competent to
issue his or her own certificate of completion once they have completed the
work. If the operative cannot self certify their work then the owner of the
property must pay a fee, and wait for a period of time (usually a number of
weeks) for the local building inspector to visit the property to check that
the work has been completed to a satisfactory standard, only then will the
property owner be handed a certificate.
The only way around this lengthy and costly process is to make sure that
the operative who carries out any work on your property is registered as a
competent person. They are then able to self -certify their own work. At
drum we will make sure all of our operatives are deemed competent to be
able to self certify their own work, thereby enabling them to issue you
with a certificate of notification. there and then, saving you time and
money.
